  March 23, 2010. - At approximately 10:30AM, members of the Dalton Fire Department were called to a scene of a tanker truck rollover. Upon arrival, the truck was found not to be leaking. A precautionary evacuation was implemented and nearby residence removed or secured in their houses.
Dalton Ambulance transported the driver with minor injuries to Berkshire Medical Center.
Dalton Rescue 1 used its airbags to left the truck off the ground to check for leaks or major damage to the structural integrity of the truck. When none was found, Village trucking of Lanesborough was told to right the truck onto its wheels, While this was being done, Dalton Engine 1 and Pittsfield Engine 6 manned 2 1/2" hoselines in case of a breach. Pittsfield was called for a HazMat supervisor for advice. They responded with Engine 6. Tankers from Hinsdale and Lanesborough were dispatched to scene for water. Hinsdale's Rehab unit also responded. Entire call took about 3.5hrs.
The Dalton Police Department closed the road during the incident. MSP also responded.

DALTON -- A Dalton woman and her two dogs escaped injury, following an early evening fire on Wednesday.
The fire, which was reported at about 6:15 p.m., at 245 Washington Mountain Road, forced the female homeowner, whom authorities didn't identify, and her two pets to climb out a bedroom window of the single-story house, according to Dalton police officer Jim Scace.
Scace and Dalton firefighter, Barry Smith, responding in his own vehicle, were the first at the scene and used the woman's fire extinguisher to start dousing the flames in the living room where the fire started.
"There was [plenty] of smoke and you couldn't see across the room," said Scace.
Once additional Dalton and Hinsdale firefighters arrived, they quickly had the fire under control.
Scace said the pellet stove apparently sparked the fire, which scorched curtains, a table and some papers. The woman and her two dogs were allowed to return to their home. |

Tuesday Feb. 9, 2010. - DFD responded mutual aid with the ambulance and rescue to assist with a MVC with entrapment. Units on the scene reported one person injured and trapped in a pickup truck under a tanker truck. Upon arrival the "Jaws of LIfe" were not needed and the person was extricated from the vehicle with minor injuries. DFD members cut a ladder that was entangled in the wheels in order for the truck to be moved. DAB towed the pickup truck. |

Fire Destroys Barn at Holiday Farm |

12/11/09 - A fast moving fire destroyed a small barn and office area at the Holdiay Farm off Route 9 in Dalton. The blaze was called in at 0110hrs by a cell caller. An adult pig as well as piglets were also lost in the fire. Assisting Dalton Fire Units with Tankers and an air truck, were the Hinsdale and Windsor Fire Departments. |

 The Massachusetts Call Volunteer Firefighter Assn. has awarded the Dalton Fire Department the "April Fire Company of the Month award. This will go towards the purchase of a Smart board for training. |
